Privacy Policy — Mac App Store edition
Last updated · 2 September 2026
This policy covers the Framit build distributed through the Mac App Store. It exists separately from the download edition's policy because the two builds genuinely differ: this one has no self-updater, and it is not granted network access at all.
What we collect
Nothing. No account, no analytics, no crash reporting, no telemetry. This matches the App Privacy declaration on our App Store listing: Data Not Collected.
Network access
This build ships without the network entitlement. It cannot make network requests — not for updates (the App Store handles those), not for anything else. This is enforced by the sandbox, not by our good intentions.
Where your captures go
Into a folder on your Mac, by default ~/Pictures/Framit and ~/Movies/Framit, or a folder you choose. Sandboxed builds remember your chosen folder as a security-scoped bookmark; that grant is held by macOS and covers only that folder.
Text recognition
Runs on device through Apple's Vision framework. Nothing is uploaded, because nothing can be.
System permissions
Screen Recording is required to capture the screen; Microphone is only requested if you record narration. Both grants live in System Settings › Privacy & Security and can be withdrawn there.
