Changelog

Every release, most recent first.

Long screenshots now stitch sideways — and can start from the middle of a page

  • Long screenshots gain horizontal scrolling: wide tables, code, and wide pages stitch into one complete image
  • Start a long screenshot from the middle of a page — scroll up and it fills in the top too, no need to begin from the very top
  • Pages with sidebars, floating video windows, or large blank areas now stitch in cleanly, with fewer stray white lines and misalignments
  • Stitching very long pages is faster and lighter on memory, with no more stalling partway through
  • A fresh app icon

Screenshots can be translated now — frame an area and the translation lands right on the image

  • Translate a screenshot: frame an area and press T, and the translation lands right on the image as a movable, editable annotation that travels with the copy or the saved file — shots you already took and images pinned to the desktop work too. It uses macOS's built-in translation and runs entirely on this Mac with no network (requires macOS 15 or later; the first time you use a given language you'll be prompted to download its language pack)
  • Look up an unfamiliar word on the spot: phonetics, definitions, examples and common phrases, with pronunciation playback and word forms
  • Give a screenshot a soft drop shadow so it sits better in documents or chats — off by default, toggled from the size badge in the top-left of the frame (the state is remembered), and the badge can be dragged to any corner, where it snaps into place
  • While marking up, hold ⌘ and move the pointer over another window to light it up, then click to merge it into the same shot — no re-capture, and the desktop showing between the two windows isn't filled in; click the ✕ on a window's outline to drop it
  • The hint card shown before you frame gains a mode row (one letter per feature, with Text now labelled OCR), plus a handful of fixes: Presentation mode's ✕ shows your own shortcut, ⌥1–⌥4 during recording are no longer swallowed, scrollbars are thinner, and the capture card appears instantly with no countdown

The first Framit

  • Region, window, scrolling capture and screen recording — the same engine as Kopit, nothing left out
  • A capture card in the corner: copy, copy the recognised text, mark up, pin, reveal in Finder, drag straight into another app
  • On-device text recognition; the Copy text button only appears when text was actually found
  • Timed capture, a folder of your choosing, a library window, and a one-page first run
