Privacy Policy
Last updated · 2 September 2026
This policy covers Framit for macOS, downloaded from this website. The Mac App Store edition is covered by a separate policy, because that build behaves differently.
What we collect
Nothing. Framit has no account system, no analytics, no crash reporting and no telemetry of any kind. We do not know who you are, whether you use the app, or what you capture with it.
Where your captures go
Screenshots and recordings are written to a folder on your Mac — by default ~/Pictures/Framit and ~/Movies/Framit, or wherever you point them in Settings. They are never uploaded anywhere. Framit has no server to upload them to.
Text recognition
Text recognition runs entirely on your Mac through Apple's Vision framework. The image is never sent off the device, and the recognised text is only placed on your clipboard when you press the button.
Network access
This edition makes exactly one kind of network request: checking for updates. It fetches a file from download.kopit.app that lists the latest version. That request necessarily reveals your IP address to the CDN, as any HTTP request does; it carries no identifier for you or your copy of the app. You can turn update checks off in Settings.
System permissions
macOS will ask you to grant Screen Recording so the app can see the screen, and Microphone if you record narration. Those grants are held by macOS, not by us, and you can withdraw them at any time in System Settings › Privacy & Security.
Children
Framit is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. Since it collects no data at all, it collects none from children either.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Because the app collects nothing, we do not expect substantive changes.
